A recent episode of Mountain Lake Journal featured a segment about the Malone Arts and Cultural Center. Spotlight producer Paul Larson interviews Tamar BenArdout, the Vice President of Foothills Art Society, and Lorraine Cartier, secretary and marketing chair, about the building, activities, and fundraising efforts of Foothills.

Viewers will see the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the North Star Gallery on Pearl, and they'll get a peek at a space destined to become a haven for the performing arts in Malone.

This artsy episode of Mountain Lake Journal aired on Friday, April 7 at 8 pm on Mountain Lake PBS.

• The primary focus of my initial work was the landscape and the emotions it evoked. As I progressed, however, I found myself more captivated by the colors, angles and shapes that create the majestic natural world than realistic rendering, so I began to focus on abstraction. While I still love capturing the essence of the landscape, the fun and challenge of making something alluring, beautiful or mysterious with an amalgamation of seemingly random shapes, spaces, textures and colors pulls me further from my more traditional training and background. Taking an alternative route from the one that gave me much joy and success is not easy, but the reward of a different approach inspires me to reimagine creations without my old path being lost, forgotten or diminished.

• Sue Horowitz is an award-winning Folk/Americana and Spiritual music artist. Her latest album- her 5th, "Strings, Wings and Curious Things" debuted at #3 on the FAI radio charts. She has had several charting singles on FAI, as well as on the Roots and NACC radio. Sue was a recent national finalist at the 2022 Emerging Artist Grassy Hill Artist Showcase at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. She was honored to be a featured artist in the DJ Showcase at the 2018 NERFA as well as the 2022 FARM (Folk Alliance Northeast and Midwest). Sue serves as artist-in-residence at synagogues throughout the US and is the founder of the Jewish Songwriting Cooperative Retreat. Sue considers being a singer-songwriter to be "the best job in the world."
