Form and Function
The Form and Function exhibit, which opened on Jan. 19, will run through February.
It has been said that form follows function, and in the spirit of that, Foothills Art Society is planning its first exhibit of 2024 and we’re going for something a little different. In a community so full of creative people with such a wide array of skills, we are excited to showcase items that are both aesthetically pleasing and useful in daily life. This is a highly open-ended exhibit that aims to showcase how form and function can come together into works of art that are both creative and practical. |

Phoenix Mendoza Art Exhibition and Concerts
I wasn't the only one changing. The world took a turn in 2020 that most of us didn't expect. We were all forced to take a collective breath whether we liked it or not. For me, that time was spent rediscovering who I was...
I fought the current long enough to almost drown many times. The hardest part about being an artist of any kind, isn't creating art. The hardest part is being honest with yourself about who you are. It took me 20 years to be ok with that. -Phoenix Mendoza |

Business After Hours
The Malone Chamber of Commerce and Foothills Art Society will host a Business After Hours on Thursday, May 11th from 5 pm to 7 pm at the North Star Gallery, at 45 Pearl St. Malone. This evening will celebrate those businesses who proudly display the Rising Star of Malone and the addition of Foothills Art Society’s growing art center in the Malone Historic District. The arts and revitalization efforts go hand in hand in building a strong community and increasing tourism.
According to the Franklin County Historic Society’s research, Malone was originally dubbed as *Star of the North* in 1892 by MB Goodkind of NYC due to its successful commercial and manufacturing interests.
Local businesses are showing their support for the Town and Village of Malone in their rebranding efforts, by purchasing and hosting a Rising Star of Malone. Stars are made available from a donation by the Town of Malone and can be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce. The stars will be lit on May 11th by the businesses and the Chamber will host a “scavenger hunt” in which the public can find the stars, enter their list, and be drawn for a prize at the conclusion.
Details will be announced at the reception as well as on Facebook.
Come to the Business After Hours on Thursday, May 11. Meet Foothills Art Society’s new Executive Director. View the art of local art students and bring your business cards to enter a chance to win door prizes.
