Foothills ARTSociety would like to invite the public to the 19th Annual
Chateaugay Lake Arts Festival to be held on Saturday, July 26th from 10-3.
Inherited from the Chateaugay Lakes Arts Association in 2008, the Festival will
be chaired this year by Foothills members Julia Holmes and Toos Roozen Evans.
The event is held on the grounds of the Hollywood Restaurant on Rt 374 in
This popular event is a highlight of the summer season for arts minded people
throughout the area. The “invitational” arts and crafts show assures that only
work deemed of “excellent quality” be accepted. Most of the vendors have
exhibited for years and all new inclusions must meet the standards expected by
the jurying committee. There will be over 30 vendors offering pottery, fine art
prints, decorative painting, art cards, stained glass, wood carving, wood turning,
furniture, picture frames, fiber art, cast glass, copper and semi - precious stone
jewelry, baskets and hand painted silk, as well as photographs, watercolors and
oils - most of which have an Adirondack flavor. Many of the vendors look forward
to taking orders for special items.
As an educational activity, a number of vendors will be demonstrating their craft.
Many participating artists/craftspeople have donated fine works of art for a
special raffle to be drawn on the 26th. Names will be drawn at the end of the day
and the winners may take their artwork home with them when they leave (It is not
necessary to be present to win.) A special raffle of childrenʼs items is also being
planned and children attending the Festival may be a lucky winner. Also of
special interest to children is the childrenʼs table which is set up each year and
offers art activities for children to participate in.
In addition to the arts and crafts vendors, numerous local organizations maintain
informational booths. Stewartʼs will once again be offering ice cream sundaes
and Agri-Mark MacAdam will be offering samples of their locally produced
products. There will be a baked goods table for anyone interested in sampling
home cooked sweets or taking some home to share with the family. The weekly
Adirondack Farmerʼs Market, located on the grounds, will stay open until 3:00
just for this day to offer an alluring array of produce, meats and garden items.
The Hollywood Restaurant will also be offering a lunch special for the day.
This Crafts Festival is the farthest North of the craft fairs in the Adirondack region
and has built a reputation for the quality of itʼs art. Foothills ARTSociety, a non
profit organization based in Malone (foothillsartsociety.com), would like to invite
the public to attend the festival, support local artisans and have an enjoyable day
mingling with other arts minded people. The event will be held rain or shine.
